We are an alternative educational provider for pupils between the ages of 11-16 with SEMH needs.
Our team of staff is led by our provision leader and DSL, a former Assistant Headteacher in two different schools (over the course of eight years), with a total of 21 years of experience in three mainstream schools. Part of his responsibilities as a senior school leader was leading on behaviour, inclusion, alternative provision, and reading.
We combine nurture with aspiration. We provide an SEMH intervention programme to support improved attendance, improved behaviour, improved emotional regulation, and general reengagement with education. We achieve this mainly through building strong relationships and guiding and mentoring our pupils as individuals. Central to our mission is the ambition that 100% of them will go on to education, employment, or training.
Pupils learn maths, English, science, and PSHE. (Geography is also optional.) In addition, they partake in shared reading every morning, plus enrichment and sports activities in the afternoons.
We offer placements from one to five days a week, which can be short-term step-outs to longer-term placements.
We are based at the Prince Philip Community Centre, just a small distance north of Leeds City Centre. On site, we are lucky to have access to extensive sports facilities and a huge green space.
We currently accept a maximum of 20 pupils on any given day, with at least one member of staff for every four pupils.
We have in place the full range of necessary policies and practices that any high-quality Alternative Provision should offer. For example, a Single Central Record, a fully qualified DSL and deputy DSL, a safeguarding policy, a behaviour policy, a Health and Safety Policy, an anti-bullying policy, a fire risk assessment, and public liability insurance. And we recently had a very successful safeguarding audit with the Leeds Education Safeguarding Team.
